With him donating close to two-thirds of his personal earning to charity annually, according to study, means caring, indeed, runs deep through his blood, a revelation of who he truly is as a man. So, it is little wonder that his values are celebrated by many whenever the opportunity arises to return the gesture.

Because his ideology is premised on the understanding that it is fake love if it does not involve giving, Bro. Iginla regularly touches lives physically not minding your religion.

The revered man of God, who is noted for his penchant for showering car and other gifts on the poor as well as touching the lives of the needy, last weekend reached out to people with enough hand-outs to assuage their suffering. One of them was a Muslim girl whom her boyfriend poured acid on. The lady had come to the church for prayers.

Bro. Iginla noticed the Muslim girl during the service, she explained her story to the man of God, how her boyfriend poured acid on her. She had gone to several places for help but none availed her.

Moved with compassion, Bro. Iginla gave her the sum of 10million naira (29,000 USD) and also offer to sponsor her trip to India for surgery.

Bro Joshua Iginla has been fulfilling his kingdom mandate of supporting the needy and touching lives.

Year after year, he spends millions of naira to provide for the needy across the country.

Court dissolves 24-year-old marriage of ex-NBA Spokesman

A Edo State High court sitting at Abudu, headquarters of Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the State has dissolved the marriage between a Benin based legal practitioner, Samuel Abaslim Esq and his wife, Mrs. Florence Chinwe Abaslim.

The presiding judge, Justice Vestee Eboreime dissolved on grounds that the marriage between Samuel Abaslim Esq who was a former Spokesman of NBA, Benin branch and his wife, Mrs. Florence Chinwe Abaslim, a Staff of West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Asaba, has broken down irretrievably.

The marriage was conjugated at the Saint James Anglican Church, Benin on October 7,1995.

The petitioner , Samuel Abaslim had filed the divorce petition praying the court to dissolve the marriage, alleging that the respondent, Mrs Florence Chinwe Abaslim had behaved in such a way that the petitioner cannot reasonably be expected to continue to live with her.

Justice Eboreime in her judgement stated that the unchanged evidence of the petitioner has proved that the marriage between the petitioner and the respondent has indeed broken down irretrievably under section 15, (2)(c) of the matrimonial causes Act.

In the circumstances, the court ordered the dissolution of the marriage between them.

Our Correspondent reports that Samuel Abaslim Esq, cut his teeth in Journalism in the famous Daily Times Newspaper Limited.

He left the tabloid to study law and was called to the Bar over 15 years ago a Supreme court Solicitor and Advocate.

Graduates of UI, Statistics dept to hold first home coming/reunion & hall of fame launch

The Department of Statistics, University of Ibadan graduates have announced activities to mark their first home coming event and hall of fame launch from June 7 – 8, 2019 at the department of Statistics complex.

The two-day program is themed “Homecoming event for Nation Builders and Celebration of Achievement”. The Head of Department, Dr. Angela Chukwu said the event aims to bring together all alumni of the department to work together with the department in supporting research, creativity and to create an endowment fund to assist exceptional but less privileged students of the department.

The event will start on 7th June, with breakfast and networking meet and greet.  Afterwards, two alumni of the department – Prof. D.K. Shangodoyin, Professor of Statistics, University of Botswana and President African Statistical Association and Dr. Mohammed Tumala – Director of Statistics, Central Bank of Nigeria, will deliver keynote addresses.

The event features a panel discussion amongst alumni, which will have Prof (Mrs) Joy Nwabueze, Prof Ethelbert Nduka, Mrs Olubusola Oyebadejo and Mr Emmanuel John Udoh where they share expert opinion on the impact of statistics degrees on their various fields.

The second day (8th June) is a social event where we will be recognizing retired members of staff and congratulating the newest professors.

There will also be an official launch of the Hall of Fame and an inauguration of “U.I. Statistics Department Ambassadors (UISDA)” both of which will be conducted by the Head of Department.

The highlight of this home coming event is the dinner/fund raising at the International Conference Centre University of Ibadan. This event is a celebration of the many accomplishments of the Department of Statistics alumni, giving a chance to catch up on sweet memories with old classmates, lecturers and members of staff while enjoying a thrilling event in the ancient city of Ibadan.

Alleged credit card fraud: I’m not guilty, Naira Marley tells court

Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, on Monday pleaded not guilty to an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy, possession of counterfeit credit cards and fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission charged the musician before a Federal High Court in Lagos.

Also mentioned in the charge is one Yad Isril, who is said to be at large.

Following the not guilty plea, EFCC counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, requested the court to give a date for commencement of the musician’s trial.

Meanwhile, defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo (SAN), informed the court that he filed a bail application on behalf of the defendant.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo adjourned the case until May 30 for hearing of the bail application.

The court, however, ordered that the defendant should be kept in prison pending the outcome of the bail application.

According to the EFCC, the defendant committed the offences on different dates, including November 26, 2018; December 11, 2018; and May 10, 2019.

The commission alleged that the musician conspired with other persons to use different Access Bank Plc cards to defraud some people.

The EFCC said that he used Access Bank Plc Card number 5264711020433662 issued to other persons to obtain fraudulent financial gains.

It added that the defendant possessed counterfeit credit cards with the intent to defraud and steal.

The News  Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the alleged offences contravene Section 1 23 (1) (b), 27 (1), 33, 33(9) Cyber Crime (Prohibition, Prevention) Act, 2015.
