Cool FM’s Amin Mousalli, Allon Nelken, Kavitta Chellaram, Diana Chan, others for Ethnic Business Awards

Nigeria-based foreigners who’re contributing to the nation’s economy in terms of visible investments and employment generation will be honoured and celebrated during the Ethnic Business Awards (www.theethnicbusinessawards.com) on Valentine’s day, February 14th, 2020 at the prestigious Oriental hotel Lagos.

These diaspora foreigners who have chosen Nigeria as home despite the stormy waters, according to the organizers of the epoch making event deserve more than celebration and will be honoured in different categories such as Ethnic Man of The Year, Woman of The Year, Entrepreneur of The Year, CSR Brand, Beauty Brand, Financial Institution to mention but a few.

Another COVID-19 patient dies in Lagos

A 66-year-old citizen of the United Kingdom has died of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made this known via Twitter handle on Wednesday.

He also confirmed that cases of coronavirus had increased to 130 in the state.

He tweeted, “Lagos recorded another #COVID-19 related death: a 66-year-old Briton, who travelled from India via Dubai to Lagos on 17th of March, 2020.“As of 7th of April, 2020, there are 10 new cases of #COVID-19 confirmed.”

“The total of #COVID-19 cases in Lagos rises to 130.“Another #COVID-19 patient was discharged after full recovery. This brings the number of discharged patients to 32.”

Lockdown: Police to arraign Naira Marley, Gbadamosi today

[BREAKING] Lockdown violation: Court pardons Naira Marley, Gbadamosi, wife

Popular Nigerian entertainer, Azeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley and the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party in Lagos State in the 2019 gubernatorial election, Babatunde Gbadamosi, and his wife will be arraigned before a court today (Wednesday) for breaching the Lagos Infection Diseases Regulations 2020 (the Regulations).

The trio had on Monday turned themselves in at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, and were detained after the police asked them and others, who attended a birthday party organised by a popular actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, aka Jenifa, to report at the SCIID.

The party was organised by Funke for her musician husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello, alias JJC Skillz, at their residence on the Amen Estate in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state.

More than 20 persons were in attendance at the party in contravention of the state government’s social distancing directive to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The celebrity couple were arraigned by the state government on Monday and were sentenced to 14 days of community service and also fined N100,000 each by Mrs Aje Afunwa of the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Ogba.

The magistrate, who also ordered that they should be placed in isolation, added that they must compile and submit the names and phone numbers of all those, who attended the party.

BREAKING: Court sentences Funke Akindele, husband to 14-day community service (VIDEO/PHOTOS)

A Magistrate court sitting in Lagos on Monday sentenced Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband, Abdul-Rasheed Bello (JJC), to 14-day community service for contravening the lockdown order in Lagos State.

They are to serve three hours per day excluding Saturday and Sunday.

They must each visit 10 public places to educate people on the consequences of not complying with directives on Coronavirus.

The court also directed them to pay a fine of N100,000 each.

Akindele on Saturday organised a house party to celebrate her husband JJC’s birthday at her residence in Amen Estate Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos. The party is in contravention of the lockdown order of President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on social distancing, which forbade a gathering of more than 20 people.

Akindele was arraigned alongside her husband, Bello, on a one-count charge before Magistrate Y.O. Aje –Afunwa.

Funke and her husband were represented by their counsel, Abayomi Alagbada.

The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyo Onigbanjo (SAN), who was the prosecutor, told the court that Funke and her husband, flouted the directive of the Lagos state Governor when they gathered more than 20 people at their Lekki home.

The charge dated April 6, 2020, number MIK/A/43/2020, was signed by the Director, Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) Yaquib Oshoala.

It stated: “That you (1) Funke Akindele (2) Abdul Rasheed Bello on the 4th day of April 2020 at 9,Gbadamosi Close, Amen Estate, Ibeju Lekki in the Lagos Magisterial District gathered at the aforementioned address with over twenty persons contrary to the social distancing directives of Mr Governor of Lagos State made pursuant to Regulation 8(1)(a) & (b) and 17(1)“) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease(Emergency PreventionMegu/atian 2020 and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law Cap P16 Vol.9 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
